Accommodation
We have negotiated an excellent hotel rate at the Doubletree by Hilton, Toronto Airport. In fact, the early-bird rates match the OGS Seminar 2004 rate at the same hotel!
PLEASE NOTE: Each guest room booked offsets the cost of our meeting spaces, so it is crucial to Conference 2010 finances that your reservation is linked to our account. Please make your reservation through this special web page:
http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/groups/personalized/YYZIPDT-OGS-20100512/index.jhtml
The rates per room are as follows:
- Conference rate (until April 23, 2010): $139 per night
- For bookings after April 23, 2010: $149 per night
The above rates are for one or two people in a room. For each additional guest (to a maximum of four) add $20 per night.
PLEASE NOTE: The hotel’s computer booking system is occasionally overwhelmed by our group’s enthusiasm. If it won’t let you book a room at the price specified above, please get in touch with us so we can give it a pep talk.
ACCESSIBLE ROOMS
The Doubletree has two rooms with roll-in showers—only these will show if you select the “accessible” option—but all rooms are designed with doors to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers.
NEED A ROOMMATE?
Would you prefer to share a room (and the cost) with another Conference 2010 attendee? We are offering a “roommate matching system.” Send an e-mail with a few basics: your name, male or female, smoker or non-smoker, and which nights you would like to share. We’ll attempt to put you in contact with a potential roommate with similar “basics”. Then it will be up to the two of you to make a decision and any other arrangements. (Note: To ensure the validity of your request and to protect other registrants, we must have your paid Conference 2010 registration in hand before attempting to match you with a roommate.)
BUDGET ACCOMMODATION
Note: The Conference 2010 committee has not made any special arrangements with these facilities and cannot vouch for their services. Please consider travel time and costs when making your accommodation decision.
Humber College North Campus, 205 Humber College Blvd., has dorm rooms and suites for summer visitors. The campus is approximately 7 kilometres from the Doubletree, by car. Please allow for extra travel time during rush hours. Public transit is available (a five minute walk away) but evening and weekend service is infrequent. Contact the college directly: <http://conference.humber.ca/accommodations.html>.
Indian Line Camp Ground, 7625 Finch Ave., Brampton, is approximately 10 kilometres from the Doubletree, and offers serviced and unserviced campsites. Please allow for extra travel time during rush hours. Hourly GO buses connect to Toronto Transit. Contact the park directly: <http://www.trca.on.ca/enjoy/locations/indian-line-campground.dot>.
