An organization of family historians, some with Toronto roots, others who live in Toronto, we have ancestors around the world.

February Meeting

Our February Toronto Branch meeting will take place on Monday 22 February starting at 7:30 pm* at the Burgundy Room, North York Memorial Hall, 5110 Yonge Street in Toronto (convenient access from the North York subway station).

Image of jug and bowl on washstandGenealogy writer and instructor Barbara J. Starmans will be our featured speaker at this meeting. Her main presentation will be on Researching and Sharing Your Family’s Social History—how exploring the social history of our ancestors’ time and place can help us go beyond the who, when and where of their lives and find answers to the harder questions of how and why. Barbara will also be joining us for a special pre-meeting question and answer session from 6:45 to 7:15 pm on choices related to the change in ownership of the Family Tree Maker program. If you’re a FTM user, don’t miss this chance to air your questions and concerns.

During our mid-meeting break, drop by our information tables to find out about upcoming workshops, volunteer openings and other Branch activities and announcements, or catch up with other family history enthusiasts. We’ll close out the evening with a short presentation by Branch member Valerie Watt titled Britain’s Genetic Map Reveals its Regional History.

We will be live-streaming this meeting for those who are unable to attend in person. For instructions on how to connect to our live feed, visit our Live Meeting Stream page. We hope you’ll be able to join us – either in person or on-line.

* We have been advised that the current work-to-rule campaign by Toronto’s inside workers will not have any impact on our meeting, which will be proceeding in the Burgundy Room as planned. If there is any change, we will post a further update here.
