A wooden cross first marked the spot where Parkdale’s Roy Victor Jones lost his life in April 1917—one of about 3,600 Canadians who fell at Vimy Ridge. When the wooden crosses at Vimy were replaced with stone markers, Roy’s parents had his cross brought home.
