Fall 2016 Courses

Get set for a busy autumn season of learning at Toronto Branch!

On Wednesday afternoons in September and October 2016, we will be presenting a three-session course by Carol Nichols, titled Hands-On Library Edition. Join Carol for practical instruction on how to use one of the largest commercial databases of Canadian and international records to build your family tree.

If you’re ready to put your research skills into practice with expert guidance, consider joining Jane E. MacNamara for Hands-on Early Ontario Land Records, a three-session course at the Archives of Ontario on Thursday afternoons in October. Learn how to navigate the Archives’ collections to document the acquisition of land in Upper Canada.

Are you intrigued by the possibility of confirming and expanding your family tree through DNA testing? If so, consider signing up for our three-week Introduction to Genetic Genealogy with instructor Linda Reid on Wednesday evenings also in October.

People who are just starting out or are interested in upgrading their basic research skills will want to register for our eight-week course on Wednesday afternoons from mid-October to early December on Basic Genealogy and Family History. Instructor Jane E. MacNamara will cover terminology, types of sources, the use of on-line resources as well as libraries and archives, and sound record-keeping practices.

We are now accepting registrations for all of the above courses. Visit our Learn with Toronto Branch pages for program details and to sign up online.
