Happy New Year! The first Toronto Branch meeting of 2022 will take place on Monday, January 24, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). It will be entirely online via Zoom and open to all, but please register in advance.
Our featured speaker is an author, academic and expert in French-Canadian genealogy, with a particular interest in claims of Indigenous identity. Dr. Darryl Leroux will explore the genealogical mechanics at play in the growing phenomenon of self-Indigenization—the “practices of descent” through which an increasing number of white French-Canadians are identifying as Indigenous.
We’ll also enjoy a short presentation by Nancy Trimble on Finding Unindexed Records on FamilySearch. What treasures might you discover this year?
The presentations were recorded and the recording is now available to view until February 28. Click here to access it.
