An organization of family historians, some with Toronto roots, others who live in Toronto, we have ancestors around the world.

November 2024 meeting—Great Moments

The Toronto Branch meeting took place on Monday November 25. This was our last monthly meeting for 2024 and, in keeping with our long-standing end-of-year tradition, it was also a celebration of our members’ Great Moments in Genealogy.

Eight Branch members surprised and inspired us with their presentations on milestones and minefields in their own family history journeys:

Bev MacCullochThe ancestor in Box #3

Bonnie BellA man from Deeside, a 30-year search to account for his disappearance

Doug Stephen—Searching for Gramma’s birth parents, discovering a whole family

Eileen MacDonald—The accidental bigamist

Linda Reid—There was more: An 18th Century memorial links two generations in Ireland

Marian Press—The sad lonely death of Charles Henry Farrington … It pays to read the original document

Michael Nettleton—Braiding connections

Valerie O’Brien—Family legends and the flying Scotsman

If you missed this fast-paced and fun-filled evening, in person at Lansing United Church, you can watch the recording. It will be available on our website until about January 28, 2025. Click here to view the Great Moments video.
