October 2016 Meeting

Please join us for our next Toronto Branch meeting on Monday 24 October starting at 7:30 pm at Eglinton St George’s United Church at 35 Lytton Blvd in North Toronto (in the Sanctuary), as we present A Captain? My Captain?.

Speakers Elizabeth A. R. Kaegi and James F. S. Thomson will share a genealogical success story, the account of their search to identify the biological parents of a WWII adoptee and solve a seven-decade-old mystery, using both traditional research techniques and new genetic genealogy testing.

As this presentation is by its nature very personal and concerns living people, it will not be live-streamed.

During the mid-meeting break, take a few moments to drop by our information tables, check out our books for “rescue”, find out about Branch courses and volunteer opportunities… and mingle with other members and guests. We’ll conclude with a short presentation by Branch member Linda Reid titled Stocking the Fish Pond: Getting Your Relatives To Take DNA Tests.

Please note that the Members Network will be gathering before the main meeting (beginning at 6:15) in the Eglinton Room.  All Branch members are welcome to participate and share experiences with others pursuing their family history research!

Eglinton St George’s is located a block west of Yonge Street between Eglinton and Lawrence Avenues—a short bus-ride or a reasonable walking distance from either the Eglinton or Lawrence subway station. If you’re driving, there is some local street parking and there are also three “Green P” parking lots close by.
