Tracks through Time

The Ontario Genealogical Society’s 2015 Conference is taking place at Georgian College in Barrie from May 29 to 31. This year’s theme is Tracks through Time—and whether you are tracking your ancestors by researching vital and census records, poring through old newspapers, visiting ancestral homesteads or comparing DNA results, chances are that this is an event you will not want to miss.

Over the course of three days, attendees will be able to choose from eight workshops and thirty-five sessions, stop in at familiar Conference features such as the Research Room, Ask an Expert and Wall of Ancestors, and check out new additions, such as “fast tracks”, short presentations offered exclusively by exhibitors in the Conference Marketplace. Toronto Branch members Jane E. MacNamara, Janice Nickerson, Guylaine Pétrin and James F.S. Thomson will be among the expert Conference speakers.OGS Conference 2015 logo

Online registration is now closed, but you can still register in person on the Conference weekend. See the Conference Registration page for available packages. If you are coming to Barrie, be sure to drop by the Toronto Branch table in Marketplace and find out what’s in store for Conference 2016!

If you can’t attend in person, you can tune in to select sessions from a distance. On Saturday morning, Conference organizers will be live-streaming a panel discussion, moderated by Thomas MacEntee, on “challenges, concerns and opportunities related to tracking our ancestors and leaving behind our own tracks”, followed by the Society’s Annual General Meeting. See the Conference schedule to find out how to connect to these live-streamed sessions and to review the full program.
