An organization of family historians, some with Toronto roots, others who live in Toronto, we have ancestors around the world.

September 2022 meeting – online

The first Toronto Branch meeting of the fall 2022 season took place on Monday, September 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).

Our main September speaker was Linda Corupe, U.E., the author of more than 50 books on genealogy and history. Linda introduced us to a truly unique Upper Canada couple. Amable Dusang was of French extraction, while Sophie Solomon was half Chippewa and half Jewish, and their marriage brought together two very different worlds. Linda traced the fascinating story of Amable and Sophie through the 19th century.

We also enjoyed a short presentation by Michael Nettleton titled Genealogical Inferences from Uranus—What’s In a Name? Find out why unique names aren’t always a boon to researchers.

The presentations were recorded and are available until October 25. Click here to view.
