Toronto Research Tip: Master Database

So you think your ancestor may have lived in the Toronto area, but you’re not sure where to look next to pinpoint your search? Did you know that Toronto Branch maintains a searchable master database of genealogical information that could save you countless hours of research time?

Our master database includes all of the burial registers, place of worship registers, funeral home registers and other records transcribed by Toronto Branch, as well as some indexes and transcriptions for places beyond Toronto’s current boundaries – in York, Halton, Peel and Dufferin Counties. Volunteers on our research team can run a search for a single name or for all occurrences of a surname and send you a printout for a very modest charge.

To access a list of all the records currently in our master database and to find out how to request a name search, visit our Research Services page.
