An organization of family historians, some with Toronto roots, others who live in Toronto, we have ancestors around the world.

Toronto Research Tip: School Records

Family historians may want to look at school records for various reasons—to research an ancestor who was a teacher, to find out where an ancestor went to school and for how long, or to get a taste of what an ancestor was learning and what his or her school days were really like.

The good news is that there are many different collections to explore—yearbooks, admission registers, teacher and student lists, school archives and histories, Ministry of Education records, textbooks and curricula. The challenge is that they cannot all be found in the same place, and many have not survived. But it is always worth checking – you may be in luck!
