Speaker: Sandra Joyce

Over 118,000 British children were sent to Canada from 1869 to 1939 to work as indentured farm workers and domestics in individual farms or households.  Some suffered horrifically in their placements, others did well. One in ten Canadians are descendants of these children and most are unaware of this huge part of Canadian history.

Sandra is the author of The Street Arab: The Story of a British Home Child and Belonging and is Executive Director, Canada for the British Home Children Advocacy and Research Association

Mini-presentation: Sue de Groot: Love & Marriage in Amsterdam
